2006-07 Scholarship awarded
The South Coast Running Club recently awarded Jennifer Turman Memorial Scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year to recent high school graduates Annyika Corbett of Myrtle Point, and Megan Hibner and Kassy Lynass of North Bend.
The $500.00 awards are given annually to one or more Coos County high school cross country or track distance runners to help them continue their educations and running careers.
Turman, a cross country and track athlete at Marshfield High School and Clackamas Community College and member of the South Coast Running Club, died in an automobile accident in 1995.
To date, the running club has provided $9,000.00 in scholarships.
