Club History

South Coast Running Club was founded in the early 1970’s and began as a small group of dedicated runners who wanted to bring organized races to the Coos Bay area. Inspired by local legends like Steve Prefontaine, the club quickly grew and became a central hub for competitive and recreational runners alike. Over the decades, SCRC has hosted countless races — from scenic trail runs to road races — and continues to build on its legacy as one of Oregon’s longest-running community-based clubs. The SCRC is a volunteer based 501c3 non-profit club and a member of the Road Runners Clubs of America.
