about us
Founded in 1973, South Coast Running Club has been inspiring healthy lifestyles and building community through running for over 50 years. We host a variety of races throughout the year, support youth programs, and provide opportunities for runners and walkers to connect, train, and celebrate fitness together. Club History
South Coast Running Club was founded in the early 1970’s and began as a small group of dedicated runners who wanted to bring organized races to the Coos Bay area. Inspired by local legends like Steve Prefontaine, the club quickly grew and became a central hub for competitive and recreational runners alike. Over the decades, SCRC has hosted countless races — from scenic trail runs to road races — and continues to build on its legacy as one of Oregon’s longest-running community-based clubs. The SCRC is a volunteer based 501c3 non-profit club and a member of the Road Runners Clubs of America.
